In the Middle Ages, it experiences alliances, sieges and dominions, eventually gaining municipal autonomy and a prominent role in the Marche region. Its history, marked by religious power and political contentions, reaches the modern age with illustrious figures such as Osvaldo Licini.

[/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row content_placement=”top” row_content_width=”grid” css=”.vc_custom_1751034257159{padding-bottom: 50px !important;}”][vc_column]

[vc_column_text css=””]The history of Montefalcone Appennino is ancient and eventful, as evidenced by the discovery of brick material and small objects of pagan worship from Roman times in the locality of “Colle Luccio.” The earliest written records date back to 930 in a document of the “Circum Farfense,” in which it’s recorded of “Curtem Montis Falconis.” The village was a feudal possession of the Abbey of Farfa and included in the territories belonging to the Farfense fief of nearby S. Vittoria in Matenano. Thanks to the Farfensi monks, Montefalcone soon became a very important center; they built a fort and established a school for clerics.[/vc_column_text]

 [vc_single_image image=”5295″ img_size=”full” css=””]

[/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row content_placement=”top” row_content_width=”grid” css=”.vc_custom_1752856118714{padding-bottom: 50px !important;}”][vc_column]

 [vc_single_image image=”5297″ img_size=”full” css=””]

[vc_column_text css=””]A significant moment came in 1214, when Abbot Matthew granted the Free Commune. However, as with many “free communes” of the Middle Ages, its existance was not easy. As an important strategic center, it was disputed between the Fermano and Ascolano states, becoming the scene of wars and destruction. In 1239 it submitted to King Enzo, and in 1257 the Fermo people occupied the castle with the permission of King Manfredi. In the following century, it was besieged by Galeotto Malatesta (1351). In 1355, Montefalcone swore allegiance to Cardinal Albornoz, and two years later entered into “Conventiones” with Fermo.[/vc_column_text]

[/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row content_placement=”top” row_content_width=”grid” css=”.vc_custom_1751034257159{padding-bottom: 50px !important;}”][vc_column]

[vc_column_text css=””]In the 15th century, it was under the rule of the Orsini family, and in 1572 it was granted to the Diocese of Fermo. During the Jacobean triennium, Montefalcone was included in the Department of Tronto with Fermo as its capital. From 1800 to 1808, it became part of the Apostolic Delegation of Macerata and then, from 1808 to 1815, returned to the Department of Tronto. It was only in 1860, after the Unification of Italy, that it returned to the province of Ascoli. In more recent times, between 1922 and 1924, the painter Osvaldo Licini stayed in Montefalcone Appennino, where he produced some of the works that would later make him famous.[/vc_column_text]

 [vc_single_image image=”5302″ img_size=”full” css=””]

[/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1751033974629{padding-top: 100px !important;padding-bottom: 100px !important;}”][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row content_placement=”top” row_content_width=”grid” css=”.vc_custom_1751034257159{padding-bottom: 50px !important;}”][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row content_placement=”top” row_content_width=”grid” css=”.vc_custom_1752856118714{padding-bottom: 50px !important;}”][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row content_placement=”top” row_content_width=”grid” css=”.vc_custom_1751034257159{padding-bottom: 50px !important;}”][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row]

["post-5955","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry
["GET
